Strategic Direction Planning Guidance & Coaching

There's an exhausting amount of advice, guidance, learning and development in existance and readily accessible for any executive within an Outsourcing Service Provider (OSP) to be a great strategic planner and do great strategic planning. As long as you've got the time.

At Atlas-GOSS, we take the what and why of Strategic Planning as a given for all OSPs. Everybody's doing it. What Atlas-GOSS offers is an advanced level of expertise for senior executives to access on an as the time pressure dictates basis.

Throughout our team, we've covered all disciplines, come across a vast array of challenging circumstances and focused on every directional driver at some time or other. We've done that with some very large scale strategic mandates.

So, when the time comes and the weight of expectation is on you, the senior executive in the spotlight, Atlas-GOSS has the depth and breadth of experiences to allow you to quickly share the load.

For us, it starts with a question:

  • Have you got the time?

Everyone at Atlas-GOSS knows that it doesn't matter how much money there is. What matters is how much time we've got. Then it all about how effective we are at helping you to find answers to the vast portfolio of questions we could ask. We always start with Peter Drucker:

"Strategic Planning is the managerial process of developing and maintaining a viable fit between the organisations objectives and resources and its’ changing market opportunities.  The aim of strategic planning is to shape and reshape the companies businesses and products so that they combine to produce satisfactory profits and growth."

That means we have to ask the 5 "Really Tough" Questions:

  • What is your Business ?
  • Who is the Customer ?
  • What is the value to the Customer ?
  • What will your Business be ?
  • What should your Business be ?

Then we focus on the plan:

  • Where are we now ?
  • Where do we want to be ?
  • How might we get there ?
  • Which way is best ?
  • How can we ensure arrival ?

You see, for all the time you've got, the critical thing that need's producing is the plan that contains the strategy. For that we need:

  • An executive overview
  • The background & context
  • A description of the current situation
  • The vision, mission and core values
  • Long, medium & short term goals and objectives
  • The options and the evaluation of them
  • What you've chosen to do (the strategy)

Now it's all about the how and this opens up more questions. The great thing about the Atlas-GOSS approach though, is that by now, as well as having the strategy and the plan, you've also got a whole bunch of new questions that you can be asking and all the time you need to ask them.

After all, isn't that what great leadership is all about?
